Hi Toto98, I am wondering if the specimen shown in this photograph is a member of the nominate subspecies, because of the two recognized subspecies of Pseudois nayaur, that one is native to Nepal.
Even looking closely at this animal, something seems different from the Sichuan subspecies, Pseudois nayaur szechuanensis, but I cannot quite put a finger on what that is. The Sichuan bharal (Pseudois nayaur szechuanensis) is the subspecies predominately seen in European and North American collections that still keep them.
Some authorities do not consider either subspecies valid, and consider the Bharal (Pseudois nayaur) to be a monotypic species, does anybody have further opinion on that? If so, i would be interested in hearing what you have to say.
