African manatee

Yantai Haichang Whale Shark Aquarium
Wow, I didn't know that any zoo in the world had African manatees!

I don't think manatees in general ever breed in captivity, do they?

Beijing Zoo had bred three west Indian manatees decades ago, and sent one to Japan. And I believe Singapore and Japan also breed them.

West Indian manatees have been bred several times in various European zoos (Arnhem, Amsterdam, Beauval, Madrid, Nuremberg, Odense); the first one was born at Amsterdam in 1977.

@Norwegian moose

I've seen them at COEX Aquarium, Seoul , South Korea . I believe an aquarium in Japan (Toshiba?) and some in China also keep them.

there are quite a lot of Chinese aquariums with African manatees, as well as some in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.
