Lion-tailed Macaque (Macaca silenus)

at the Someshwara Wildlife Sanctuary at Agumbe, Karnataka
Great shot- better than anything I got of them. Its interesting how two entirely unrelated Monkeys-LTM and Nilgiri Langur, inhabiting roughly the same zones, have very similar colouration.

I got lots of really awful photos too!

I also find it unusual how similar (in broad terms) the lion-tailed macaque and Nilgiri langur are to one another. I wonder if anyone has suggested a reason or if it is just random.
