the floor is concrete, although in the photos (of various cages) it does look like sand. The Big Cat cages were previously barred and looked just like small cages; now they have windows instead and look like glass boxes. You can still see the bars on the upper parts of the cage above the windows. There is no "outside" area either, so this is the entire living space.
