The Detroit Zoo has a rich history and I own the 50th anniversary book and also the 75th anniversary book. I fully expect to be purchasing a centenary book in 2028.
In the fiftieth anniversary book there is a photograph of a zoo master plan that was clearly never carried out. I'm unable to find a link and the photograph in the book is indistinct so it's hard to figure out just what was in the plan and I have no idea whether it was a serious proposal.
