Yellow-Crowned Bishop

Tropical Hall: Bishop ID? August 1, 2016. Euplectes hordeaceus or afer?

Afer. Hordeacus is red.

@ThylacineAlive i did a google search on afer it looks exactly like the one in the photo all photos of hordeacus i found were red.

@drill A quick image search just now shows multiple photos are yellow individuals. Zootierliste's page for the species also shows a yellow individual. In this case I do think the animal is afer but that's due more to the face mask as oppose to the yellow coloration.

I have seen yellow hordeacus at both Tropical World Leeds and Zoo Berlin, for what it is worth
