Amidst all of those metal and wooden poles it is somewhat amusing to see that Colchester has included a typical mock-rock, Fred Flintstone element to the exhibit. The zoo might have many excellent qualities but showcasing genuinely authentic fake rock-work has never been one of them.
Not very attractive by any stretch of the imagination, but I like the number and height of climbing opportunities available to the chimpanzees. Is there much more to the enclosure than what's visible in the photo?
@soona There is a large indoor part of the enclosure with separate bedrooms. On a visit only the other day the enclosure has had more plants added to it and grass is growing. I have added other photos with different views of the outdoor part of the enclosure.
