African wild dog (exhibit) : Whipsnade : 07 Apr 2017

Lycaon pictus. View of exhibit from wisent end.
While agreeing that this is a lovely photo (as always from @ro6ca66), I would disagree about the loveliness of the enclosure - at the moment. The fence here seems very obvious, very stark, and despite being submerged a little, it is still too high to allow good viewing of any not-too-distant animals. The paddock looks pretty unexciting. And the integrity of the nascent European zone at the zoo has been destroyed - a shame, because that area might have been developed into something very nice indeed, with the bears, lynx, wolverine, elk and wild boar all present, along with the now-gone wolves.

Well I assume that the grass will grow over time and it does resemble there natural habitat quite well. I had also thought about the European section, however I now think the path actually works as a good boundary between the Europe and African sections. One side bison and moose, the other hunting dogs, giraffes and bongo
