Polar bears on grass? It's wonderful to see the massive Arctic bears on something other than solid cement.
 
The first time these polar bears were let out into the enclosure they were scared of the grass! They had lived on cement and rock all their lives. Now they love rolling about in grass and mud :)
 
Yes, I remember that from some Danish tv program! Where did the bears come from?
 
One of the males is from a zoo in Germany or Italy (I think, not sure).
The other 1.1 is a pair of siblings from Kolmården Djurpark, Sweden. The male was sterilized so that he would not breed with his sister.
It strikes me as odd why a zoo would choose to sterizile a male of a species that is so hard to breed. His genes could have been of good use elsewhere...
 
I would always be glad to give a tour to anyone ZooBeat members comming to Denmark:) Besides, this park is not easy to find with public transportion. In fact, its almost impossible.
