They currently keep 3.4 bears. They are only occasionally allowed to breed since European brown bears are not in demand. The enclosure is about 6 acres big.
Good to see such a large enclosure, a few reas of concern and one being the lack of greenery, trees and good enrichment areas. Even so, the size and the water makes this very impressive. Still prefer my bear enclosure at glasgow zoo though.

But I will agree with you that the exhibit could usea few more trees. There are some young trees in the enclosure however, that is not visible in this picture. Hopefully, they will grow bigger soon.
But could you tell mé what you mean by "enrichment areas"?

Could do with more trees and green shrubery, more life needs to be shown as it looks empty and frazzled. The hot weather, should not be an excuse..water hoses and sprinklers to help maintain moisture levels within the soils and ground. Enrichment..things for the bears to today both within a natural way for themselves, as well as for the public who are viewing. Providing enrichment by means of scratching posts, holes in the ground for food, wood piles for escaping heat or weather and for privacy etc, normal enrichment ideas for captive animals. Yes Glasgow Zoo is closed, was making passing comment to the bear enclosure that won many awards and which I worked at, and with bears.....

The bears have even digged their own burrows in some places along the bank of the lake and river in the exhibit. There are also several burrows built in the exhibit where the bears can get away from the heat, the visitors and each other. About scratching posts, there are many trees and logs for that purpose.

Need to excuse my ignorance, as I have never been to the Scandinavian Wildlife Park. The picture shows bears in an enclosure with a big pond and some trees in the far background. The picture is good and very informative. Just lacks many enrichment ideas found in many other zoos and parks both here in the UK and else where. There seems to be something lacking and its very bland, very non-interesting both for the bears and the public, lack of interaction and I see nothing that the staff have provided for the bears such as; logs filled with feed, or enricment tools to help keep the brear or bears occupied and able to use their main muscle groups I do not doubt that there are digging burrows and the like. Just lacks and the pictures shows any real enrichment...
