That is bizarre. According to the new IUCN Cat News Special Issue: A Revised Taxonomy of the Felidae, "We suggest the tentative recognition of only two subspecies: Otocolobus manul manul
Otocolobus manul nigripectus"
The Aspinall parks do have some rather eccentric naming practices. I'm not sure how many places would feel the need to include "manul" as the common English name, and I have never, ever, seen anywhere else refer to a snow leopard as an ounce (although I accept it is a genuine variant).
