Orycteropus

African palm civet

African palm civet (Nandinia binotata)
New Poznan Zoo is the only zoo with the species at moment...
This is a wonderful picture of one of my favourite animals. Thank you!

Poznan have held this species for a long time. Is this an exceptionally aged animal, or have they had a string of different individuals coming in?

First animal (female) arrived before 2000 (I do not know exactly when) from Asa Zoopark in Hiroshima. Later came male (between 2001 and 2004). Female died in 2005 and male in 2014. New pair came in summer 2011 (wild-born animals between 2008-2010). They breeding in 2014 (one female). Now zoo keeps three animals but hard to see them. Orycteropus was fortunate enough to make this beautiful photo.

There is only one zoo in Europe Bojnice (Zoo) which is currently holding this specie. Hopefully they breed some day again....
