thanks, I never noticed the signs. One day in 1986 I was leaving the zoo at about 6.45 pm (the days when they had decent opening hours) and a gardener was cutting the grass on the Fountain Lawn. there was a sign saying 'keep off the grass' and alongside it a sign saying, 'picnic lawn'. I will regret for ever more not taking a photograph.
