Yes it is completely netted and therefor its possible that birds ( flying ones ) can be kept together with the Cape buffalos. On a kind of boardwalk it's even possible to walk through the enclosure but during the period of my visit in Feb. this walk-through was closed due to bird-flue ( hopefully next time more luck )
@Chlidonias: I'm not so sure. For me at least, the buffalo paddock made the aviary feel barren and poorly landscaped. The same concept has also been tried with okapi in Rotterdam and hippos at Beauval.
