Prevost's Squirrel

is that a typo? It's not a Prevost's - looks like a plantain squirrel.

No, in other (crappy) photos the underside is deep red, and all over.

Having said that, Plaintain was my first guess.

is this supposed to be caroli? Even if so it shouldn't be that colour on the upperparts, and the tail shouldn't be brindled. Do the other bad photos have the squirrel in a better position?

(Or, conversely, did you just see one or many for comparisons, and how big was it in relation to other Callosciurus squirrels?)

It was about the same size as this one, Prevost's Squirrel | ZooChat , taken in a different location.
The other photos are not good, and noisy, which is why I didn't post them.

yes, that other photo is exactly right. This one just doesn't look right at all - wrong colour, no hind-leg flash, the side-striping looks wrong - but maybe it's the angles or something. I'm only going off this photo, while you saw the actual animal, so your opinion would be the better one.

It's most likely the angles that have thrown you, as this squirrel looked just like the other one.
