Great Picture Zambar,
He'll be well looked after at Blackpool and he will be blessed with the presence of Anastasia from Whipsnade.
If they do breed I can see maybe 1 or 2 litters at the most coming from them as Ana is about 9 or so and when introductions get on way which will take some time she may be about 10 when breeding starts and thats getting into middle-aged.
Good Luck to them.
I was at Blackpool Zoo today and the big cat keeper said that Zambar and Anastasia would be introduced almost immediately (through a grill or something like that) as they would have adjoining indoor enclosures. I'm not sure what they intend to do with access to the outdoor enclosure ... I presume they will alternate their access to it until they are fully introduced. Renovation work of the outdoor enclosure was ongoing today (to prepare it for two younger tigers than the previous inhabitants) but the keeper said it will be finished within two weeks, ready for Zambar's arrival.
Im really not sure. he has killed both his parents Boris and Vanda so given to his agressive nature he may be kept alone but im really unsure.
Potential mates could be the young female at Howletts Sayan born 3rd August 2008.
The Port Lympne Females are moving to Knowsley (names escape me) and were born early 2008.
Other cubs that have been born also include the Highland Wildlife Park Cubs but I dont know the gender of them.
He could be paired up but they may not risk it and he is middle-aged anyway.
What a nice tiger he is for killing his parents!! Single life for him then, seems a waste considering the size of Whipsnade's enclosure. They should get a new pair in.
Thanks for the info.
Indeed it is a waste of such a great enclosure - A swap may be in order but we never know. He is happy there and its a few years before some new pairs may be made.
