Randers Regnskov - New jaguar exhibit

This exhibit opened in 2016 and was built because the new young jaguars that Randers had received needed more room than their original ones - old and untrained individuals from Zagreb Zoo. It can be connected with the old exhibit.

October 2016.

The photo from this angle was a bit hard to figure out at first. I thought all the grass was at ground level. Finally I realized the lighter grass from the middle to the bottom right is actually a roof for the night house, and only the dark grass in the back is at ground level. Since there is mesh above it all, I assume the cats have access to the grass-covered roof?

Yeah, maybe I should have clarified that in the description. As mentioned here - Randers Regnskov - Old jaguar exhibit | ZooChat - they also have access to the old exhibit at least some of the time (they had when I visited).

I've only seen a handful of jaguar exhibits in my lifetime (Randers, Skærup, Antwerp, Berlin, and Prague), so I may not be the best judge, but I think it's a pretty good exhibit. Maybe stuff like Spirit of the Jaguar at Chester Zoo is better and bigger, but with Randers' constraints it seems as good as can be.

What was the underwater viewing like?
Are there any other Jaguar exhibits with underwater viewing in Europe?
