It looks like a pretty crappy enclosure for tigers.
 
I have seen worse. In this picture they just cleared out a lot of the vegetation. They do this every year since otherwise it will just overgrow. They have a lot of water to swim in. But I do agree that it really could use a renovation and expansion. I think that it is too small a space to keep tigers in the zoo of the future.
 
It was built somewhere in the beginnings of the 1970´s, right, Toddy? It is from the era jwhen the old and awful "Cat´s House" just had been demolished.
It is certainly not up to date, but it could be worse, I agree. The latest offspring, by the way, has been transferred to Borås Zoo in Sweden. There they enjoy a bigger and better enclosure, at about 1200 square meters.
 
The tiger enclosure opened in 1980. It housed bengal tiger until 1993, when the zoo switched to amur tigers.
