The construction is still ongoing.
@FunkyGibbon I never saw any vertical steel netting connected to the netted canopy, so... maybe they are going to grow vines on the structure to make the illusion of a dense forest?

The massive mesh cover over much of Africa Rocks serves primarily as a matrix from which vertical mesh cages (for primates, birds and fossa) are suspended. It seems like an astonishing amount of structure and material to acheive a rather limited amount of useful animal exhibit space. As noted, the vast majority of the structure has no side panels of mesh, so does not contain anything. I don't get it....
