Although this is clearly an excellent exhibit, the one thing that disappointed me - clearly visible here - is the way in which the rear fence is so stark: it does stand out, notably, and looks pretty ugly in comparison to the rest of what can be seen.
I really hope they plant some kind of ivy as well as some more bamboo to obscure the fences. I guess they wanted some sort of back-viewing as you exited the Scripps Aviary, but A, if this is a trail leading to the hippos, why create a viewing for Malayan Tigers, of which aren't exactly natives of the Ituri Forest, and B, why couldn't they just have the visitors view the tigers through some bamboo to create a more exciting experience? I remember way back when I visited the National Zoo when I was little, and one of my fondest memories was seeing the giraffes through the bamboo that was planted for Asia Trail (the giraffes at the time were near the entrance to Asia Trail, now that area is the new Elephant Barn).
