Brent Goose (and Hebridean Sheep) - Spurn Head

30/07/2017
One of my favourite species of waterfowl, and in terms of geese only beaten by one other!

This was actually my first time seeing the species in the wild!

I have to ask, what's the one other?

They are quite common up in Northumberland over the winter months :)

The one which beats it is Red-breasted Goose (which interestingly enough is the sister species to Brent)

Well generally I only visit the UK for a few days in winter and my longer visits to the UK are just during the summer so I haven't seen most winter UK species. I've visited lots of places where I believe there are many Brent in winter so I was lucky enough to see this single individual early Brent which had been hanging around the Kilnsea Wetland area for the last week or so.
