A double exhibit for Servals and Caracals. The green structure at the left is a cool play-thing for kids, where they can pretend to hide in the "long grass" and jump out at people, like cats stalking their prey.
There are two enclosures. The one at this end is for the Servals and the other end for the Caracals. Most of what can be seen in the photo is the Serval enclosure (the windows visible to the right side of the potted plant at the entrance are part of the Caracal enclosure).
This is a really great setup. Seems to me it would also work well if they rotated them occasionally, although that would necessitate having signs for both species on both sides.
@Arizona Docent mm, signage isn't exactly a strong point at Wellington Zoo. There are four different signs at this exhibit (they can be seen in the gallery as well) but they don't provide a lot of information and they wouldn't need to be moved at all even if the cats were swapped over. Two of them are "double signs" anyway, sort of general "serval and caracal" signage.
