Auckland Zoo guide - approx 1961

Recently purchased from Australia (via Abebooks) for my own collection - I thought I'd upload an image of the cover for anyone who's interested

Very nice Nisha, how much was it? Both the 6th and 8th editions share this cover (with the kaka; http://www.zoochat.com/14/zooguidebook-1968-a-54122/), and the 6th and 7th at least essentailly have the same text, although with minor differences. About £8GBP with the postage over - thanks for the links to the others some interesting discussions there. Would love a copy of the 2002 guide should one ever come up for sale

What were the animal highlights of Aukland Zoo 1961 that are no longer there, or was the collection pretty similar to what is there now?

@DavidBrown, there were many more species in the 60s, many of which are no longer at the Zoo (or indeed in the country). For example, four macaque species, leopard, puma, jaguar, coyote, wolf, striped hyena, bears (polar, brown, black, sun), porcupine, raccoon, coati, sea lion, hippo, echidna, wombat, and a great variety of birds (pheasants, parrots, waterfowl, cranes, vultures). Only a handful of these are still in the country. The most notable additions to the zoo since that time are antelope, lemurs and callitrichids, and a few small mammals (otter, meerkat).
