@DavidBrown, there were many more species in the 60s, many of which are no longer at the Zoo (or indeed in the country). For example, four macaque species, leopard, puma, jaguar, coyote, wolf, striped hyena, bears (polar, brown, black, sun), porcupine, raccoon, coati, sea lion, hippo, echidna, wombat, and a great variety of birds (pheasants, parrots, waterfowl, cranes, vultures). Only a handful of these are still in the country. The most notable additions to the zoo since that time are antelope, lemurs and callitrichids, and a few small mammals (otter, meerkat).
