The common hippopotami left shortly after this photo was taken. The male malayan tapir lived here for a few years before the outdoor exhibit was demolished to make way for the Elephant House.
A new group of hippos moved into the new Hippo House in October 2007.
I know that this is an old photo, but does anyone know how these two hippos died (they both died on December 10, 2002 in their early 20s so I do have questions on this and what exactly happened)?
