I think that these were for displays for the 'small mammal area' where the peccary, aardvark, and others were housed and displayed. For a short while we had two young lion and a young tiger housed here. They were to be trained for performing at the new Metrozoo by Dick (can't remember his name, will add when/if I can). I have pictures of them with him.
