White-headed duck female with young

June 29 2013
This isn't a White headed duck, well it isnt a pure one at least. The body should be a paler brown (not reddy brown) with more flecking, the beak should also have a bulbous base, and not be concaved like this beak. The top of the head and the cheek stripe should also be black not brown. I would suggest that this is a North american ruddy duck (Oxyura jamaicensis). If Pairi Daiza are holding Ruddy ducks, they shouldnt be breeding them, due to their EU invasive species categorization; I certainly hope that they are not hybrizing two stiff tail species.
