I made better looking dinosaur models out of Play-Dough when I was 6.

Maybe that it why it is hidden away along a dead-end path behind various animal exhibits! Dinny was constructed back in 1937 and is 35 feet tall but I guess that he has seen better days. He is officially an Alberta Historical Resource (as of 1987) and I'm not sure exactly what that entails but one assumption is that the zoo cannot destroy the statue.

My idea on what to do with Dinny? Create a more up-to-date statue of a brontosaurus and place it next to it, letting visitors see just how much our understanding of dinosaurs has changed over the last 150 years.

Alternatively, pack it up and send it to a museum before doing the above, freeing the space up for new exhibits.
