Giant Eland

2013 Las Leyendas

monk saki, Pithecia monachus
my favourite Pithecia specie, i had luck seeing them in the wild, some years ago and have only seen one captive specimen in Pereira long ago

With the White-faced saki doing so well in captivity, why isn't there a ( western ) zoo trying to obtain a few of this ( or other ) saki species ?

I would imagine because it is quite rare in captivity, not more than 5 zoos have them and now there are none in Colombia.

These are actually Pithecia inusta, following the 2014 taxonomic review of the genus.
