Did they ever mix giraffes and elephants together, or were those plans never really realized?

They have in recent times halted mixing the species, because of the new elephants. I do not know what the future will hold. The sign pictured is now inaccurate, though I think it still stands. The savanna no longer has impala, but does have greater kudu and nile lechwe on a rotational basis.
