Controversial Boa Enclosure

Reptile Building: Common Boa. January 14, 2018. The hall in this building is narrow and I only had my zoom lense with me so I couldn't get the whole space in the photo but the log shown is basically the entirety of the space this snake has. Even if the snake is removed every evening as the signage says, it still just sits in one spot with little to no room for movement all day. I know boas aren't the most active animals but I still think this is a questionable exhibit-style, especially when one considers the behavior of the average zoo visitor (there is no glass front here). Thoughts?

My personal opinion is that the boa constrictor exhibit in the Reptile House and the boa exhibit in one of the Aquarium buildings are both diabolical. Basic husbandry seems to have been tossed out of the window!

Here is the entire exhibit (a single branch) for the snake in the Reptile House:

Here is the Red-tailed Boa Constrictor exhibit (a branch) in the aquarium building:

Here is another image, from a wider angle, of the boa exhibit in the aquarium building:

I don't think that snake in the aquarium is there anymore, or maybe I just missed it somehow. However, I do agree this set-up is quite awful. At the beginning of this building there is a completely serviceable boa enclosure, so why do this just for the gimmick..
