@Chlidonias I am quite sure it isn't and it would be an incredible coincidence to exactly match the white visible on an Abdim's stork from the side. The shape of the bill is also wrong for an Openbill and perfect for Abdim's (see especially how straight it runs on the lower bill, that would be more curved for an Openbill).
@Chlidonias I disagree. The white definitely appears to be part of the bird. [Sorry, not quite sure how to explain it, but] the bill also has that little rounded "cutout" at the top (seen in the picture just above the blue skin), which was one of the giveaways for me. I believe you can also see a tiny bit of the orange/red of one of the stork's legs in between the leaves in the foreground/log in the background.
[Edit]: I'm also not seeing that slight but definite decurved bill the Openbill has. This bird's bill looks pretty straight to me, just tapered.
I’m actually inclined to agree with Abdim’s now. I’d forgotten they were kept in that aviary, so when I saw a black colored stork my mind went straight to openbill. Thanks for pointing out my mistake @AnaheimZoo!
I, too, think it's an Abdim's Stork. I do think part of the white is the fern, but part of it does still appear to be on the bird and that along with the bill shape when I zoom in tell me Abdim's.
@jayjds2 Haha, no problem. Again, it might have been a little pointless of me to correct what I thought was a mistake from nearly a year ago, but in the moment, I just couldn't refrain from commenting.
In regards to the bit of white in the photo, I can now see how it could be part of the plant in the foreground. That being said, as Thylo and lintworm have stated, it's that bill that's the diagnostic characteristic for me.
