The smallest and the biggest

May 4 2018
Today I managed at least to get the smallest and the biggest pigeon-species together on one photo :). In an earlier thread a ZooChatter ( was it Chlidonias ? ) told about his wish to make such a picture and since then I've been looking for such an opportunity and today I was so lucky to get it !

Is that a Diamond dove? I'm quite sure it is, due to the orange eyering. It's a small dove, but not the smallest. By weight, the smallest is Columbina passerina, and some other Columbina and related south-american genus such as Claravis, Scardafella etc beat the australian one. By lenght, the smallest pigeon is the much shorter-tailed Ptilinopus nainus.
