For years this pool held beluga whales, and within the past year one died and the survivor was transferred to a Seaworld establishment. The signs still all say that belugas are in the exhibit, except for one that points out the names of the 5 harbour seals.
Snowleopard would you say this exhibit could still hold belugas or was the decision to send the last beluga away rather then get more from the point of view that this exhibit isn't adequate for belugas?
I love the idea that the zoo now showcases harbour seals in this pool, as it is certainly large enough for such a small seal species. For belugas the pool was too small in my opinion, but then again most beluga pools around North America need to be expanded.
