Milwaukee Man

5/17/2017 - Jozi

This female eastern black rhino arrived from the Pittsburgh Zoo in late 2016. It was nice to see her enjoying the great outdoors rather than amongst the concrete and bars like all the other times prior.
What is the plan now at Milwaukee?

They still hold southern black rhino Diceros bicornis minor and part of the International Rhino Foundation's rescue and breeding program for Southern black rhino outside Zimbabwe (US, Mexico and Australia, ... erstwhile too Frankfurt, Europe, but functionally post reproductive and no longer a pair-situation). However, Jozi is an eastern subspecies D. b. michaeli and part of the official AZA / SSP black rhino.
