One of my favourite local zoos growing up had a variety of open air reptile exhibits spread around the grounds for native species and they provided much better displays than the typical reptile house. Perhaps the changes in temperature and sunlight that an outdoor exhibit provides keeps reptiles on their toes throughout the day.
