Luckily, I don’t get sick on any form of transportation. The only problem is I usually can’t sleep on any of them, either, leading to a lot of sleepless plane flights that can get annoying. I really enjoyed birdwatching from boats in the Galapagos (I saw 4-5 new species), in part because there wasn’t much else to do. After I was confident that I’d seen most of the species I could, I opted to just sit in the back and enjoy the sun and the breeze.
However, most of the group I was in would agree with you. A lot of people got dangerously sick during our time in Ecuador, and I’m fortunate that I wasn’t among the few that even had to go to the hospital in Santa Cruz.
It wasn't the motion that bothered me it was the heat and smell. No circulation whatsoever. My favorite bird sighting was on an open air boat going to a snorkeling spot. We saw an albatross but of course I can't remember which species and couldn't get a picture. I'm glad I didn't get sick and have to go to the hospital. I'm wishing I could go back now.
That’d be a waves albatross most likely, and I’m jealous! It was just barely too early in the year for them when I visited. I’m always wishing I could go back, it was such a fantastic experience and such a unique place.
