@elefante Probably because they look like the average deer to the normal zoo-goer, which doesn't make them of much interest. Thus zoos would rather use the space for something more attractive to the public. Also I believe there is an import ban on deer into the US due to a certain disease, (the name of which currently escapes me, but someone can probably enlighten us) and so to avoid spreading it imports are very rare if ever.
