Future Plans - $5 Million Lion Exhibit + Restaurant Expansion

July 24th, 2018.
The main emphasis has been on the addition of African Lions to the zoo after an absence of several decades, but this $5 million project also includes an expansion of the zoo's only restaurant, a brand-new Meerkat exhibit and in the bottom right-hand corner (where it says "Cat Habitat") that will be home to leopards. Exciting times in South Dakota! The last two major projects at the zoo have both been excellent: the AZA award-winning Japanese Macaque exhibit (2013) and Fortress of the Bears (2018) with 4 Grizzlies rotating between two enclosures.

@snowleopard Sorry for commenting so late, but it is only the zoo's capital campaign that is $5 million, the total project is estimated to cost around $8 million. I just wanted to fill you in so you had the right information! :)
