This zoo must have spent a fortune on cement as it seems as if almost every animal enclosure is inside a massive concrete bunker. Ugh. It is truly surprising to browse through the photos and find out that the zoo is only 7 months old.
I couldn’t believe how much cement was used for this place, situated in the middle of a beautiful rainforest. Having been to a few other Asian zoos recently, this place wasn’t all that bad, but I did make sure to talk to some keepers and zoo workers about a number of things they could improve for the animals well being. More enrichment and alternating animals between different spaces we’re my main recommendations. While the bears, hoof stock, rodents, birds and reptiles seemed quite healthy and content, the cats, small predators and chimpanzees seemed distressed.
