I keep looking at this photo trying to figure out what it is. It's not a Golden Palm Civet. The species I keep coming back to in my head is just the Common Palm Civet (hermaphroditus) - if you watered down the colour so that the mask, feet and tail aren't black, you'd get a similar animal to this I think (although it seems to be quite fat which throws off the general appearance).
There were 2 animals in the exhibit, so it's very possible that they're separate photos of both individuals. Do you think the other photo is also hermaphroditus?
It looks odd because of the angle (changing the apparent shape of the face, for example) and it is also obviously overweight, but I think it is probably also a weird hermaphroditus. Golden Palm Civets don't have any spotting - they are solidly-coloured.
Note also this photo by @devilfish - Civets | ZooChat - which clearly isn't a Golden Palm Civet and I think is most likely a hermaphroditus (see the comments on that photo). It looks less fat than the ones in your photo but I think it's probably one of the same animals.
I can't explain why they would be explicitly labelled as being that species though. (But I also would struggle to suggest how they would even have Golen Palm Civets in the first place).
