What state are you in at this point in your trip? Google maps says Wisconsin. Some of these enclosures offer very little protection from the elements. Do these animals need to be moved indoors in winter?
@PAT Wisconsin is a state that can be covered in snow for at least a couple of months each year and I have no idea what happens with the animals during that time. I wouldn't be surprised if the senior citizen owners left the critters to their own devices! I was told that the zoo closes down all winter long and the owner plows a main pathway via a snowmobile just so he can get around and toss food into the enclosures. Maybe there is an off-site building where some of the more tropical species are shifted, but I'm doubtful.
@snowleopard@PAT I happen to know that there is a heated building behind the scenes at Animal Haven Zoo. As to whether the tropical animals live there in the winter, I have no idea.
