This surprised me a lot... There were aquarium keepers nearby and I asked about this black Siganus. They told me that it's due to stress, if I remember well. I asked if it's S. vulpinus and they told me yes...
Also a mushroom coral (Fungia fungites) in the photo. Burger's zoo Ocean.

Interesting. There is a Siganus that is naturally black as well, Siganus niger. That species has been seen in the aquarium trade with some regularity recently, at least in the US.

Hmmm, interesting! Could be that this individual is actually Siganus niger and not an unusual phase/status of S. vulpinus? The images that I found, seems identical to this individual...

I'd say it's highly possible... some research found some mottled specimens, and a few with some dark area, but none that were all black. The fish in the photo matches Siganus niger quite nicely actually.
My guess is that this is indeed Siganus niger, as I can't find any photos of Siganus vulpinus this dark.

Thanks! Is what I suspected since you let me know the species!
If confirmed, it should be added to Zootierliste list for Burgers zoo :-)
