I also heard from zoo staff a couple months back that the center may also change consider in rescuing black bears. Also this exhibit is exepected to open in 2021.
I personally think black bears would be a great addition. The couple people I spoke to said no new species would be added after the riparian (otter) expansion, but who knows?
@Arizona Docent I found out the other species coming to the riparian exhibit from the staff there which are.
1. North American River Otter
2. Yellowstone Cuthroat Trout
3. Boreal Toads
4. Diving birds, (like Harelaquin ducks for example)
5. Leopard Frogs
