rutting elk self marking

Female elk (wapiti) and their offspring are present in Mammoth village (Yellowstone) year round. Males show up during the September rut. This lusty male was spraying urine on his head and on the grass and rubbing his head and antlers in it. Immediately after this he walked up to a tree and started thrashing it with his antlers, as seen here: rutting elk thrashing tree | ZooChat
