Some of the exhibits at Amersfoort wouldn't look out of place at Pairi Daiza. :p

@snowleopard I think Pairi Daiza is probably even more extreme with their theming, but the Ancient City does indeed take the theming quite far with lots of details. That said I think it still has mostly okay/adequate to good exhibits and the theming doesn't distract from the animals.

@KevinB Part of me thinks that it is great that zoos like Pairi Daiza and Amersfoort exist, as they each have some unique and exciting exhibits that are interesting for zoo enthusiasts who have already seen hundreds if not thousands of animal enclosures. No two zoos are ever alike but Pairi Daiza and Amersfoort are clearly different from most other facilities.

@snowleopard I agree. Each zoo and every exhibit has its own specific aspects and that is certainly part of keeping this zoo hobby interesting and exciting. And some facilities, areas and exhibits are just a bit more unique and exciting than others in what they offer - like Pairi Daiza and at least as far as part of the zoo is concerned, Amersfoort (the Ancient City is definitely it's most unique area, the rest of the zoo isn't as uncommon).

I have mentioned it elsewhere already, but if you visit Amersfoort and the Ancient City, I advise you to make sure to look in every nook and cranny, around every corner and in every area you enter to make sure you don't miss any exhibits, and pay attention to all the details, some of which I have shown in this gallery.
