These look like they're kept indoors - the keepers put an old piece of termite mound outside and drizzle honey through it. When it is covered in ants they take it inside and put it in the lizards enclosure.
For lizards kept outside, it's simply a case of putting honey in the pen/pit and waiting for the ants to come along.
Actually, the heat lamp is not shining on it, but shining on the other one. The green one is only lit, I imagine, by a fluorescent tube which often give phoptographic subjects a greenish tinge.
The problem is that they only eat a certain species of ant from the middle of Australia so if we did manage to export them overseas you might have to start a breeding colony of the ants to feed the lizards, or import fresh ones every day! It will probably be too difficult and costly but who knows what will happen in the future...

Would be interesting if these kind of ants can be kept and bred in captivity (= inhouse conditions). If so, then only import/export regulations could prevent my wish...
