Chimpanzee enclosure renovations

November 2018
November 2018

I didn't have a short lens on my camera, so this was the best angle I could get. The view is of the far end of the enclosure (furthest from the viewing platform and indoor housing), where they are putting a (large!) viewing window into the wall. This wall had the original door leading to the old chimp house (later turned into an aviary, and now demolished).

Beyond the window you can see what looks like some sort of play equipment for human children, set into the ground, or maybe holders for circular signage. There is some concept art of the finished product on the following link (the above photo was taken from the top of the exhibit as depicted in the concept art): We're celebrating World Chimpanzee Day!

There were also a lot of telephone poles lying about the enclosure which will be used for constructing more climbing frames.
