this animal actually lived at the menagerie until 1798 when it died and was mounted. sory abot the flash but the hall of extinct animals was very dark.

Once again on this specimen too you can see the animal's 'chestnut' colouration, short mane and the very narrow white bands (almost lines) on the neck, very different from the pattern on living Plains Zebras.
The thicker set legs on this specimen look more realistic too than the twig-like legs of some other mounts- which could never support the body.
