I doubt that the other species is ever present in captivity, tough maybe they are some in American aquariums. Anyway I would expect that always that you find an Echeneis in an aquarium, will be E. naucrates 100% of times.
@Kakapo That's what I figured but the issue is this place has a lot of rare wild-caught fish native to the Western Atlantic. In this very tank is a single Remora remora which is likely the only individual in captivity, this being why I've questioned with sharksucker this is.

@Kakapo@ThylacineAlive I have heard both Echeneis and Remora are both rare imports into the US for the saltwater aquarium hobby. What the status is on either genus in private or public aquaria I do not know. Being as they get fairly large for most hobbyists to handle aquarium wise, are predatory, and not readily available to catch, I would assume numbers in private hands are pretty low.
