Tanganyika: Common Hippos grazing. September 13, 2018. It's not often you see a zoo give their hippos a proper grassy lawn. The odd design of this enclosure, however, is that that pool is exclusively indoors whereas 90% of the land area is outdoors. This works fine during the summer months but in the winter that must mean the animals are locked indoors without much of land space.
